This is a video on how to cleanse your crystals, or one method. Ok, more specifically her method, but you get the point.
I always recommend a full moon cleansing, but some people like the salt water method. I have a few thoughts on that method:
- If the Mohs Scale of Hardness for the crystal is less than 5, don’t put it in salt water, place it under the full moon for the absolute safest available method.
- calcite, carnelian, halite, hematite, labradorite/spectrolite, lepidolite, lodestone (magnetite), mica, moldavite, opal, turquoise, ulexite, pyrite, or clusters of most stones should NEVER be placed in water. There might be a few more but this is a good list.
- If you use the element method (earth, air, fire, water), a few drops of water quickly to bless a crystal won’t annihilate it. A few drops sprinkled, not immersed.
- If left in the sun, Amethyst and other richly colored crystals will fade out. I unfortunately learned this the hard way when I was a newbie. I also don’t recommend that method either.
- Smudging with sage, pine, cedar, lavender, or juniper is always another safe option to cleanse.
How you charge, or bless your crystals will vary. Some people, after cleansing, will firmly hold theirs in their hand and speak loudly and with confidence what they expect of the crystal to fill it with intent. Some people consecrate them like any other tool.
I don’t have a preference for either. Whatever works for you.
